My Freshman Year:
The latest reading assignment was about Dr. Nathan’s observation
of her college’s community, and how the incoming Freshman class
interpreted the word “community”. She discussed how many students
during the early 2000’s were more individual and participated less in
college sponsored activities. She also spoke about how students were
less likely to participate, or want to participate, in mandatory activities
because they felt like these events were impeding on their ability to
choose what they want to do at college.

I think that even now students at college don’t participate in many college
sponsored events and feel more individualistic about college groups such
as fraternities and sororities. Many students believe that there are too many
activities, and some may even not want to join in any activities because they
feel “pressured” to join the community.
